General & Pricing
Yes! The basic photo creation tool, automatic face detection, biometric standard cropping, and 4x6" printable sheet generation are 100% free. You do not need to register, create an account, or enter credit card information to create and download your photo.
Retail pharmacies (like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid) and post offices charge high service fees for operating dedicated cameras, staffing an employee, and using custom passport photo printers. By taking the picture yourself on your smartphone and formatting it with our free tool, you only pay for a standard 4x6" glossy photo print, which costs just $0.25 to $0.40.
If your original photo has irregular shadows, wall texture, or non-white background colors that you cannot easily fix at home, you can choose our optional $1.99 AI Background Correction. Our server-side neural network removes the background and replaces it with a pure white (or government-specified) backdrop while preserving natural hair outlines.
Taking Your Photo
Absolutely. Modern smartphones have cameras with 12MP or higher resolution, which exceeds official passport photo requirements. For best results, place the phone on a tripod or have someone take the photo from 5–7 feet (1.5–2 meters) away at eye level. Avoid front-camera "selfies" because wide-angle lenses distort facial proportions.
No eyeglasses: In the US, UK, EU, and most countries, eyeglasses are no longer permitted in passport photos, even with daily prescriptions, because glass glare or frames can obscure the eyes.
Makeup: Natural, everyday makeup is fine. Heavy makeup that alters bone structure, glitter, or false eyelashes that cast shadows on your eyes should be avoided.
Most biometric passport systems (ICAO standard) require a neutral facial expression with both eyes open and mouth closed. A wide smile showing teeth or funny expressions will cause your photo to be rejected by automated facial recognition gates at airports.
Yes! For infants, lay the baby on a plain white sheet from above, or place them in a car seat covered with a white blanket. Make sure no other person's hands or toys are in the frame, and the baby's eyes are open looking towards the ceiling/camera.
Printing & Downloading
1. Download the 4x6 inch (10x15 cm) printable photo template from IDPhoto4Me.
2. Go to the Walgreens Photo, CVS Photo, or Walmart Photo website/app.
3. Upload our 4x6" image as a Standard 4x6 Prints (do NOT select "Passport Photo Service").
4. Pick it up in 1 hour for approximately $0.35, then cut out the individual photos using scissors or a paper trimmer!
This is almost always caused by the printer software setting:
- Do NOT check "Fit picture to frame" or "Shrink to fit". This adds margins or scales the photo.
- Always choose "100%" or "Actual Size" on your printer software.
- Ensure the paper size in printer settings is set to 4x6" (10x15 cm) borderless.
Yes! Our tool provides a single image download formatted to the exact pixel dimensions and DPI required for online visa submissions (e.g., US DS-160, Green Card DV Lottery, Chinese Visa online portal, UK Online Passport Renewal).
Privacy & Security
Never. We respect user privacy above all else. Free photo cropping and facial landmark detection are processed locally within your web browser. If you use our background removal service, the image is processed in temporary memory and automatically deleted permanently within 24 hours. We do not sell, store, or train AI models on user photos.
